Managing members and roles
View your team in Settings → Users, change a member's role, and remove members.
Every person in an organization is either an admin or a member. This page shows you how to see who’s on your team, promote or demote someone, and remove a member, all from Settings → Users. At the end you’ll know exactly where role changes happen and what guardrails apply.
Admins and members in practice
Members are consumers of results: they explore published use cases, segments, and actions, and export what they need. Admins additionally own the organization’s setup: data connections, the team and its invitations, and result delivery. The run-and-publish steps themselves are handled by Neuralift working with your team, so Neuralift staff never appear in your Users list. For the full capability matrix, see Roles & permissions.
Before you begin
- Anyone in the organization can view the member list.
- Changing roles and removing members requires the admin role; see Roles & permissions.
View your organization’s members
- In the organization sidebar, open Settings.
- Select the Users tab.
You’ll see a table of every membership with User, Email, and Role columns. You can sort and filter each column, and change the page size (10, 25, 50, or 100 rows) for larger teams. Admins also see an Actions column at the right of each row.
Change a member’s role
- Go to Settings → Users.
- In the member’s row, open the Actions menu (the vertical ⋮ button).
- Choose Edit Membership.
- Under Role, select Admin or Member.
- Click Save.
You should see a “Membership updated successfully” confirmation, and the Role column reflects the change immediately.
Warning. If you demote yourself from admin to member, you can’t undo it yourself. The app warns you before saving, because only another admin can restore your access.
Remove a member
- Go to Settings → Users.
- In the member’s row, open the Actions menu (⋮).
- Choose Remove Membership and confirm.
The person loses access to the organization right away. To bring them back later, send a new invitation from Settings → Invites.
On your own row, the option reads Leave Org instead. Use it to remove yourself from an organization you no longer need.
Troubleshooting
- You can’t demote or remove the last admin. Every organization must keep at least one admin, so the change is blocked until another admin exists. Promote someone else first.
- You don’t see the Actions column. You have the member role. Ask an existing admin to make the change, or to promote you.
- Someone you invited isn’t in the list. They haven’t accepted yet. Check the pending list under Settings → Invites; see Inviting people.
